There are numerous opportunities to help you live a longer, healthier and happier life in Springfield and Greene County. This page is intended to highlight some of those upcoming activities or classes, whether they are conducted by our department or other organizations in the area. Walking

"Walk Springfield" - Explore the Ozarks through a series of dozens of 30-minute walks mapped out across the area. These paths were chosen for their walkability and scenic character. Go to StartWalkingNow.org and use the search term "Walk Springfield" in the Path Name field. Or, use a local ZIP code to find even more walks created by other local people. You can also like Walk Springfield on Facebook.

Biking


Check out The LinkThe Link is a planned bicycle and pedestrian route through Springfield’s core that will connect existing and planned greenways. Using primarily existing streets with minimal vehicular traffic, the ultimate goal is to develop a system of shared-use routes that creates an experience of comfort and safety.

Stress Management

Women's Heart Center Stress Less Classes
Description:
The Women's Heart Center offers a series of three Stress-Less classes. Learn ways to change your attitude about everyday stress and coping skills to reduce the effect of stressful events. Learn to notice your unique stress responses and practice ways to change them. 
Location: Hammons Heart Institute
Time: Classes are held on three consecutive Thursdays, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.

Tobacco Cessation

Freedom From Smoking classes
Sponsored by the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, this proven program features a small-group setting led by a trained facilitator and includes eight sessions that take participants through a step-by-step plan to quit smoking.

Cox Health Presents Beat the Pack 
A class to help you quit smoking.
