Animal ShelterMap to Animal Shelter
The Animal Shelter is located at 4002 North Farmer, Springfield MO 65803. The Animal Shelter staff includes an attending veterinarian, a shelter manager, and animal control officers who ensure that the animals are cared for while being held in our facilities. Animals brought to the shelter receive vaccinations under the care of the attending veterinarian, both to ensure health and safety for the individual animal as well as the other animals being held in the facility. To contact the animal control staff, please call (417) 833-3592. You can help the animals at the shelter by donating money to offset adoption costs or by providing needed supplies.

Ordinances
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department has animal control officers to enforce city ordinances related to animals: Chapter 18 - Animals. Rules vary depending on whether the animal is in the city or county. The health department no longer provides animal control serivces to areas outside Springfield city limits.

Officers
Animal control officers investigate complaints, recover lost and roaming animals, provide education and resource referrals, and work with community partners to promote animal welfare.

Adoptions & Partnerships
Although we are unable to facilitate private adoptions to individuals at the current shelter facilities, we work with a number of partner agencies who rescue animals from our shelter and place them up for adoption in forever homes.

Half-Way Home Rescue, a qualified animal rescue organization, works with us to identify and facilitate adoptions of animals that are left in the Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adopting an animal from the shelter and giving a good home to one of the homeless animals, or interested in donating, please contact Latichia Duffy with Half-Way Home at (417) 693-7555. Another rescue group that pulls animals from our shelter is Castaway Animal Rescue Effort, or CARE. They have adoption centers in Springfield and Ozark.

The Springfield Animal Advocacy Foundation is a nonprofit organization devoted to ending pet overpopulation in the Ozarks. Their services are intended for pet owners who could not otherwise afford to have their animals spayed or neutered. Please use the services of a private veterinarian if you can afford to do so.
