Animal Shelter
Springfield-Greene Animal Shelter
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department Animal Shelter is located at
4002 North Farmer, Springfield MO 65803. The Animal Shelter staff includes an attending veterinarian, as well as a shelter manager, and animal control officers that assure that the animals are cared for when they are held in our facilities. Animals that are brought to the shelter receive vaccinations under the care of the attending veterinarian to ensure health and safety for the animal as well as the other animals being held in the facility. To contact the animal control staff, please call (417) 833-3592.
Adoptions
Although we are unable to facilitate private adoptions to individuals at the current Animal Shelter facilities, Half-Way Home Rescue, a qualified animal rescue organization, works with us to identify and facilitate adoptions of animals that are left in the Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adopting an animal from the shelter, and giving a good home to one of the homeless animals, please contact
Latichia Duffy with Half-Way Home at (417) 693-7555 or for assistance. Thank you for your interest.
You Can Help! Pay For A "Pull Fee"
Our rescue agencies are required to pay an $8 fee in order to pull an animal from the City animal shelter. These fees help offset the cost of vaccinations, worm treatments and other care given to dogs and cats after they are taken in by animal control staff. These actions not only keep our shelter a healthier place for animals, but makes them more adoptable, too.
You can help make this happen. Anyone can donate $8 (or more if you like) to help the rescues pull more animals. This money is placed in a separate account used only for this purpose.
Click here to pay a rescue pull fee online now. Though it is not necessary, you are given the option of entering the tag number of specific animal. To view the animals currently in the shelter and their tag numbers,
see our online photo gallery.
