Serving Those Who Serve
The Ozark Region is proud to serve those who have served our country. Workforce Development staff are available to assist our service men and women with finding suitable employment or in obtaining training needed to find employment. A Veterans Representative is also available to meet with veterans and their spouses with significant barriers to employment.
Veterans' Priority
Public Law 107-288 requires Veterans' priority in all programs funded wholly or in part by the Department of Labor. To be eligible for priority of service Veterans, and covered persons, must meet all other program eligibility requirements.
Customers are given the opportunity to self identify as a veteran when they check in at the Missouri Job Center. All first visitors to the Job Center meet with a Workforce Development Specialist to review available services and do an initial needs assessment.
Missouri Heroes Connect
In 2010, the Governor initiated "Show Me Heroes", a campaign that encourages employers to hire veterans. Now called Missouri Heroes Connect, employers are asked to pledge that they will consider hiring a veteran if a position becomes available at their business or organization.
