The Outdoor Air Quality Program works to protect the air we breathe and help ensure that it remains safe for the future. The following permits are required by the City of Springfield Outdoor Air Quality Program:
Open Burning Permit
Open Burning Permit ($111) - A property owner or contractor must obtain a permit to be able to burn brush or trees that originate on the property. The property has to meet several permit restrictions in order to obtain a permit.
Asbestos Fee ($153) - A property owner or contractor shall pay an asbestos fee to the Outdoor Air Quality Control Program. When an application for a demolition permit is received by the Department of Building Development Services (BDS), the Outdoor Air Quality Control Program requires an asbestos inspection and report by a registered State of Missouri licensed Asbestos Building Inspector. The Outdoor Air Quality Control Program will review the applicant’s asbestos inspection report plus verify removal and disposal of any Asbestos-containing materials.
To better understand the asbestos inspection process, please see chart and terms.
