Neighborhood Engagement
Participation of Zone 1 neighborhoods in the Zone Blitz projects is vital. Below is a list of how each neighborhood can assist with making the Zone Blitz initiative a success.
BISSETT
- Neighborhood Cleanups
- Help with the Library “Edge” computer and professional training skills and the Community Food Resource Center
- Promote Community Health Screenings
- Promote SNAP, WIC, SPS free and reduced lunch
- Promote financial literacy education
- Promote the Mobile Job Center visits.
- Work with SPD to offer Block Watch Training, crime prevention and CAP
- Promote future Run for Fun Club program
- Assisting with WiFi registration and mapping
- Interested in learning more about IGNitE and Library HotSpot program expansion
DOLING
- Promote the Library “Edge” Computer and additional professional training skills
- Help develop a Community Food Resource Center
- Community garden recruitment campaign
- Promote SNAP, WIC, SPS free and reduced lunch
- Promote Community Health Screenings,
- Help analyze annual landlord training.
- Promote financial literacy classes
- Promote the Mobile Job Center
- Help sponsor kids, etc. for after-school activities as they are able.
WESTSIDE
- Promote SNAP, WIC, SPS free and reduced lunch
- Promote Community Health Screenings
- Help recruit neighbors to be community health advocates and to help support/promote the program.
- Promote the annual landlord training education
- Promote Mobile Job Bus visits
- Work with SPD to identify high-crime locations to add security cameras
- Participate in future Run for Fun Club
MIDTOWN
- Help with neighborhood cleanup
- Help with the Community Food Resource Center
- Help coordinate community gardens activities and recruit volunteers
- Help to get the word out about SNAP, WIC, SPS free and reduced lunch
- Promote Community Health Screenings
- Recruit neighbors to be community health advocates and to help support/promote the program
- Help seek funding for a CPO Social Worker Program
- Help with annual landlord training programs
- Help coordinate and promote financial literacy training
- Promote Mobile Job Center visits
- Work with SPD to offer Block Watch Training, crime prevention and CAP
- Recruitment campaign for assistance with community gardens
- Promote SNAP, WIC, SPS free and reduced lunch
- Interested in multiple sport days in area parks and a Run for Fun club
- Work with SPD to identify high-crime locations to add security cameras
- Help find funding for scholarships; collect instruments, supplies and uniforms, provide coaches, etc.
- Help develop a Wellness Passport program

TOM WATKINS
- Help with neighborhood cleanups
- Recruitment campaign for assistance with community gardens

- Interested in multiple sport days in area parks and a Run for Fun club
WEST CENTRAL
- Promote Community Health Screenings
- Help sponsor kids for extracurricular programs
WOODLAND HEIGHTS
- Help coordinate community gardens activities and recruit volunteers.

HEART OF THE WESTSIDE
- Assist with the creation and operation of a Community Food Resource Center
- Participate in social media training and other online tools for communication
- Help coordinate and promote the Mobile Job Center visits
- Help coordinate community gardens activities and recruit volunteers

- Assist with home weatherization efforts
