Why do you do what you do?
“I want to be a resource for people who want to learn how to make healthy choices; whatever I can do to make that easier and fun for them. Choosing the healthy option—eating that apple or going for that walk—isn’t always easy, but I want to help others learn how they can make healthy choices work in their own lives.”
What’s the best part of your job?
“I get to know so many people in the various departments and learn more about what they do. I love getting to know people and this position gives me the opportunity to do that.”
What gives you satisfaction?
“Checking things off my to-do list. I am a list maker, so when I can finally get something done and cross it off, I feel accomplished.”
Do you work to live, or do you live to work? Why?
“I would say I live to work. I’m optimistic in believing that everyone deserves to work in a career they love. I can’t say that work is my only focus, but so much of what I do, particularly promoting healthy opportunities, carries over into every aspect of my life. For me, work isn’t just a means to live.”
What’s something that Springfield as a city should strive for?
“I think we need to make sure that we recognize all the good that is happening here. I have been here for six years now, and the changes and improvements that have been made are tremendous and one of the reasons I have stayed. It’s sometimes easy to get caught up in the negative, but there is so much positivity going on—we should take some more time to focus on that.”
