- Is the City still hiring during the Covid-19 crisis?
- What are we doing to provide a safe experience for candidates during the hiring process?
- What is the City doing to support our employees at this time?
Currently, recruitment and hiring processes are limited to critical positions. We are still hiring for a variety of jobs in various departments to ensure continuity of basic services are maintained. If you don’t see a position posted that you are interested in, we suggest signing up for job alerts so that you are notified when the position(s) you are interested become available. Most job interviews are now being conducted using a video conference platform. In-person testing and interviewing has been adapted to limit the number of people involved and to provide adequate physical distancing. Face coverings/masks are required to be worn by the interviewers and the candidate for in-person interviews.
The City of Springfield is commited to the health and safety of our employees. A variety of protocols have been put in place, including detailed policies related to employees experiencing symptoms or who have been exposed to COVID-19. In addition, paid time has been provided to employees who qualify and have been impacted by COVID-19. Employee travel policies have been established that prohibit work-related travel at this time. In addition, in-person meetings and trainings have been converted to a virtual experience, are post-poned, or are adapted to maintain social distancing techniques. The City of Springfield has programs in place that support our employees year-round, such as our InBalance wellness program and our Employee Assistance Program, which provides free and confidential support. All of these efforts are in addition to increased efforts in sanitizing employee workplaces, providing work-from-home options and adapting our work environments to keep everyone safe.
