Our Culture

  1. 1
  2. 2
  3. 3

The cultural frame of the City’s stance on diversity and inclusion is rooted in the values of respect, equity, social justice, and a conscious effort to build a community that is inclusive for all. By celebrating our differences, creating inclusive policies and practices, along working with community organizations, Springfield is striving to be a welcoming place for all its residents.

The City of Springfield Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office upholds mutual respect and equity within our work environment where team members can reach their full potential. The city is committed to ensure that employment opportunities are open to all qualified candidates regardless of their background. We believe that every candidate’s background is an asset to our City Organization.

We are in solidarity with the Mayor's Commission on Human Rights and Community Relations to promote understanding and respect among all citizens and provide the community recourse for discriminatory acts. Discrimination based on a person's race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, disability, sex, or familial status in housing are forbidden by law.

The city partners with several initiatives actively working to promote inclusive excellence in the community. Furthermore, we collaborate with our community networks to foster a more diverse and welcoming business environment. We contribute to events that provide opportunities for cross-cultural exchange like the multicultural festivals held in Springfield amongst other initiatives.

Embracing our diverse perspectives and ideas allows us to be innovative and effective in how we build the Springfield community.
