Springtime Driving

Springtime Road Maintenance
Springtime is here and with it comes many changes that affect our driving. Road maintenance projects will begin. We can expect to see road crews working along the roadways mowing grass and repairing potholes. With warm weather, potholes can form quickly and can be a danger. Adjust your following distance so that you have time to react if you see a pothole.

We need to realize that our roads have to be maintained and without maintenance they would fall apart. Road crews are out there working to insure we can go where we want, when we want. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in construction zones and it is extremely dangerous for both you and the workers if you speed.

Vision Obstructions
Warm weather will bring on the leaves and foliage. This could obscure your vision at intersections and driveways. Use caution in these areas as it is our responsibility to insure the road is clear before we enter it.

Bicycles & Children
Extra caution should be used this time of year as pedestrians and bicyclists increase in number. Children can be very unpredictable as we approach them. Be prepared for them to turn directly into your path. It does not matter who is at fault. When a child is killed, everyone involved suffers.
