Neighborhoods Program

When COVID-19 prevented the normal community outreach programs and activities of the SFD from taking place, the Fire Department worked to stay connected by participating in drive-by birthday parties and celebrations throughout the year, adding a personal touch to many of these events through personalized signs created for the event and held up by fire crews in the windows of the fire trucks.

Fire crews celebrated special events by driving by homes, schools and nursing homes all while families and individuals waved from their doors, porches, and yards. The department conducted 28 drive-by events in 2020.
