I love my job and how it allows me to have a direct impact on Springfield and beyond. My position as transportation planner has allowed me to write and secure bicycle and pedestrian grants for construction of trails and sidewalks in the community. The ADA coordinator portion of my job allows me to advocate and ensure the City’s infrastructure is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act – giving people with disabilities a barrier free environment to get where they need to go and the choice to be independent.
Anyone who knows me well knows I am passionate about accessibility in all aspects of the community. People with disabilities deserve independence without having to fight for it, to be able to go to a restaurant without experiencing a barrier, such as stairs to even get into the establishment or an inaccessible restroom - can you imagine what that is like? Two other things I cannot go without mentioning are my passion for animal rescue (I am involved with a local cat rescue) and playing piano.
I would want to be a zookeeper, working with all the animals at the zoo (except snakes – I would have to absolutely draw the line there).
