The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 7 presented the City of Springfield Department of Workforce Development with a $500,000 check to expand the Green for Greene Environmental Job Training Program. Regional Administrator Meg McCollister and her staff visited Springfield on January 10 for a ceremonial check presentation and to hear from city leaders how the grant funding will be used. This is one of the largest environmental job training grants awarded by the EPA and will allow the expansion of the existing program to offer a total of 14 credentials and provide training to justice involved individuals as they prepare to release from prison.
