City of Springfield Hosts Grant Avenue Parkway Related Construction Industry Job Fair
The City of Springfield and the Missouri Job Center are cohosting an opportunity for job seekers to meet with designers, contractors, consultants, and labor unions who are involved in the Grant Avenue Project to talk about job openings at their respective organizations. The event will take place on February 23, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Missouri Job Center located at 2900 E. Sunshine in Springfield.
These are not jobs specific to the Grant Avenue Parkway construction project, but rather industry jobs available at participating organizations.
Participating organizations include Carpenters Union, Operators Union, Laborers Union, Shockey Consulting, VSM Engineering, CFS Engineers, Radmacher Brothers Excavating, City of Springfield, Drury University and the Missouri Job Center.
“By hosting a job fair, our goal is to highlight the variety of careers associated with a large-scale project and provide easy access to job seekers looking to pursue those careers,” said Grant Avenue Parkway project manager Leree Reese. “This is a great opportunity to be involved in bringing transformational projects like the GAP to life.”

About the Grant Avenue Parkway Corridor Improvement Project
Funded primarily by a $21 million federal Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant, the Grant Avenue Parkway will provide major transportation improvements along Grant Avenue in the heart of Springfield.
The project will create a multi-use pedestrian and bicycle pathway along Grant Avenue between Sunshine Street and Downtown Springfield. The three-mile stretch will connect downtown businesses and neighborhoods with the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium (WOW). The route is envisioned to include bike and pedestrian friendly facilities, various traffic-calming improvements, bridge enhancements, utility upgrades, fiberoptic internet connectivity and additional crossing and intersection improvements.
