Grant Ave. to close to one-way southbound only between Catalpa and State streets beginning March 20

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Utility construction inside the City’s right-of-way is expected to begin next week in Section Three (Catalpa to Grand) and Four (Grand to State) of the Grant Avenue Parkway.  The closure of Grant Avenue allowing one-way southbound traffic only between Catalpa Street and State Street will begin March 20.

Northbound traffic will be detoured to Campbell Avenue. Motorists are advised to watch for message boards providing details of this closure and obey all posted construction signage.

Grant Avenue Parkway - Section Two

Construction work continues in Section Two of the project between Sunshine and Ildereen where some utility work, construction of portions of the multi-use path, some curb and driveways and a new signal at Portland have yet to be completed.

City Utilities Electric Division continues converting service from overhead electric lines to newly installed underground lines. This work is anticipated to last 3-4 weeks and may impact individual residents’ electrical service. Residences that may experience a brief outage will be notified via door hanger in advance.

When electrical work is completed in Section Two, two-way traffic may be restored for a time. Portions of the multi-use path have been completed, however some segments are still awaiting final acquisition of necessary easements.
