Springfield-Greene County Health has launched an updated Vaccine Opportunities map at vaccine417.com. The Vaccine Opportunities map now makes finding vaccines in Greene County to protect against more than twenty diseases easier.
Launched in 2021, the map was created to make COVID-19 vaccinations more accessible for the community, before later being expanded to include flu shot opportunities. The map now includes opportunities throughout the community at walk-in clinics, pharmacies and health department vaccination events. The vaccines included in the updated map are divided into five categories, which are listed below with examples of some of the vaccines included.
- COVID-19 (Moderna, Novavax, Pfizer, etc.).
- Travel (Japanese Encephalitis, Polio, Pre-Exposure Rabies, etc.).
- Seasonal (Flu and Pneumonia).
- Childhood (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (TDAP), Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), HPV, Chickenpox, etc.).
- Other adult (Shingles, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, etc.).
Vaccines are one of the best tools that we have to protect yourself, your loved ones and the community from preventable disease. Whether they are required or recommended for work, school or travel, staying up to date with vaccinations can help prevent the resurgence of diseases like measles, which have reappeared in other communities.
Vaccinating those around children and adults who cannot receive certain vaccinations due to age or health circumstances is crucial for their protection. Even when vaccinations are not 100% effective at preventing disease, they can still prevent serious illness and complications.
Vaccines are safe and effective. While some vaccines can have side effects, most people will only experience mild, if any, symptoms. If you have questions or concerns about what vaccines are recommended for you, the Health Department recommends you speak with a healthcare provider to get more information about your specific circumstances. When you’re ready to find a vaccination opportunity that works for you, head to vaccine417.com.
