Springfield, Mo. – The Stop the Violence Conference is Wednesday, October 18, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Missouri State University’s Plaster Student Union. The Stop Violence Conference is a community call to action to provide education and tools that help address interpersonal violence and make our community a safer place for everyone.
This free event, sponsored by Abilities First and the Missouri State University Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, is open to the public. Advance online registration is required. An accessible, virtual option is also available.
Continuing education credit will be provided for counselors, social workers, law enforcement, attorneys, and other professionals seeking CEUs, but anyone who would like to learn more about how to end the cycle of interpersonal violence is invited and encouraged to attend.
Session topics include domestic violence and the faith community, digital abuse, domestic violence and substance abuse as well as a keynote presentation from Kate Ranta who is a survivor, author, advocate and activist.
