Corrected news release: The Springfield Fire Department can now confirm the identities of the two individuals killed in a house fire September 7. While the final autopsy report is pending, using medical records, the Greene County Medical Examiner was able to determine that it was the remains of 73-year-old Ronald Hanes and 71-year-old Onna Hanes that were found in the debris of an overnight house fire at their home in north Springfield early Monday.

The cause of the fire and area of origin are undetermined at this time.

Three firefighters received minor burns while putting out the fire. All were treated and released from the hospital.
