The Springfield Police Department and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night at Jefferson Avenue and Harrison Street. A total of 625 motorists were contacted during the 3 ½ hours the checkpoint was in operation.
A total of 15 arrests were made:
Driving While Intoxicated: 8
Driving While License is Suspended/Revoked: 2
Drugs: 2
Drug Paraphernalia: 3
The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
