FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Springfield police were dispatched to Franciscan Villa at 620 W. Scott Sunday night at approximately 10:46 p.m. after a 911 caller stated a gunshot was heard in a neighboring apartment. Upon responding to Franciscan Villa, officers located a deceased female in an apartment who had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
The victim was identified as Grace A. Cummings, 52, of Springfield. Next of kin notifications have been made for the victim.
Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
An autopsy will be conducted by the Greene County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the cause of death, and this investigation is ongoing.
