FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of Republic Road and Golden Avenue at 12:34 p.m. on Jan. 31.
A 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Brian Raymond, 39, of Rogersville, was traveling eastbound on Republic Road. The motorcycle collided with a 2010 Chevrolet pickup being driven by Daniel Baumgartner, 53, of Springfield. The pickup had been traveling westbound and was making a left turn to go southbound on Golden. Raymond and his passenger, Jessica Kelly, 29, were transported to a hospital. Kelly sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, and Raymond sustained life-threatening injuries.
Raymond succumbed to his injuries at 1:15 p.m. today. His next of kin has been notified, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
This marks the third fatality crash in Springfield for 2016.
