FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to the 2000 block of South Glenstone Avenue for a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at 6:36 p.m. on Feb. 9. The initial investigation determined a red 2005 Ford Five Hundred sedan driven by Jarrett A. Cretz, 20, of Springfield, was driving southbound on Glenstone when Marilee Tipton Sarver, 68, of Springfield, was struck by the vehicle as she was walking eastbound across the roadway. Sarver died at the scene as a result of her injuries, and her next of kin has been notified. The investigation also confirmed that a dark colored SUV struck Sarver after the initial impact and then left the scene. Officers are attempting to locate this driver and vehicle. Anyone with information about this vehicle or the crash is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810.
This marked the sixth fatality crash in Springfield in 2016.
