FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Update: James J. Edwards was located at approximately 9:30 a.m. today. A citizen observed him near the area of National and Chestnut, reported the sighting to police and officers located him. He was not in medical distress and was reunited with family.
Original release: The Springfield Police Department is investigating a report of a missing and endangered person and is asking for the public’s assistance. James J. Edwards, 27, was last seen by family at 2:30 p.m. on July 18 in the area of Sunshine and National and was supposed to be walking to his home in the 1800 block of S. Franklin. Edwards suffers from bipolar disorder, is mentally handicapped and has a heart condition that requires medication.
He is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes and a large scar on his neck and chest. He was last seen wearing a camouflage hat, a blue jersey with “08” in white lettering on the front, blue jogging pants and blue and white tennis shoes.
Anyone with information regarding Edwards’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
