FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to an injury crash at Chestnut Expressway and Lulwood Avenue at 4:36 p.m. on Aug. 10.
A 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Nathan Heflin, 34, of Springfield, was turning from northbound Lulwood to westbound Chestnut Expressway when it was struck by a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by Michael Perdue, 41, of Ozark, which was traveling eastbound on Chestnut Expressway. Perdue was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been notified. Heflin and a juvenile passenger in his car were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There is no evidence of impairment at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
This marks the thirteenth fatality crash in Springfield for 2016.
