FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Springfield Police Department, in collaboration with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other members of the Central Ozarks Regional DWI Task Force, conducted a sobriety checkpoint last night on Glenstone Avenue at Catalpa Street. A total of 724 motorists were contacted during the 3 ½ hours the checkpoint was in operation. Seven drivers were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, one was arrested for a warrant and three were arrested for drug-related offenses.
The checkpoint was funded through a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation, Division of Highway Safety.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driving privileges, sentencing to use ignition interlocks and increased insurance rates. Financial losses include attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work and the potential loss of a job.
Drunk driving is not worth the consequences – remember, if you drink and drive, you lose.
