Ozarks Technical Community College is working with the Missouri Job Center to offer FREE job skills training in construction, health care and manufacturing. An 11-week construction certificate course, Framing & Finishing, begins Sept. 6.
"Sending eligible participants to gain the valuable job training and employment opportunities offered through these free certificate courses further supports the Ozark Region Workforce Development Board's mission to support and develop our area's talent pipeline," said Sally Payne, assistant director of Workforce Development for the City of Springfield. "We encourage anyone interested in the Framing & Finishing course to visit a Job Center or OTC location as soon as possible."
The Job Center has two locations in Springfield: 2900 E. Sunshine and 1443 N. Robberson, Ste. 100 in the Cox Medical Tower. The Branson location is at 2720 Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, Ste. B, Branson.
SkillUP Missouri is a program piloted by the Missouri Community College Association (MCCA) and the Missouri Department of Social Services Family Support Division and University of Missouri Extension. The program is a component of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Family Nutrition Services (FNS) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
“OTC is grateful to MCCA for coordinating the partnership efforts over the past year to make the SkillUP Missouri program available in our area,” said Jim Abramovitz, executive director of OTC’s Center for Workforce Development. “We look forward to providing these students with marketable job skills training, which can lead to rewarding careers in growth fields like health care and advanced manufacturing.”
