FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE About 175 individuals representing 95 organizations have joined the City of Springfield in a "Zone Blitz!" to follow last May's "Community Listening" initiative, which focused on addressing issues in City Council Zone 1. Partners will gather at 7:30 a.m. at Northview Family Center, 301 W. Talmage, Wednesday, Sept. 23 for a breakfast meeting to discuss ideas and recommendations from 11 teams focusing on issues ranging from health status to chronic nuisance properties. Some recommendations may require review by City Council or other legislative bodies. The goal is to share an approved action plan with the community at a summit Oct. 8. The Community Summit is hosted by the Junior League of Springfield and will take place 9:30 a.m. - noon at the Springfield Art Museum. The event will also highlight the release of the 2015 Community Focus Report for Springfield-Greene County, the Impacting Poverty Commission Report. # # # For more information, contact: Cora Scott, Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement, 417-864-1009 (office) | 417-380-3352 (cell), [email protected]
