FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE A special reception honoring the service of five outgoing City Council members will begin at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 13 (today) in the Busch Municipal Building. The public is invited to attend. Four new members will be sworn in later as new City Council members during Monday night’s 6:30 p.m. meeting in Historic City Hall. Justin Burnett, Kristi Fulnecky, Ken McClure and Mike Schilling will replace Doug Burlison, Mike Carroll, Jerry Compton and Cindy Rushefsky. The replacement for the Zone 1 seat vacated earlier this year by Jeff Seifried will be appointed by City Council later this month. Council is slated to review applications next week. The existing Council will vote on several pending items Monday evening, including several zoning issues, such as a proposal to rezone a section of central Springfield to add a live/work overlay district, establishing the Moon City Creative District. Among the final items the existing Council members will likely vote on is a resolution allowing pit bulls to be rescued from the city shelter and put up for adoption. Midway through the meeting, the new Council members will be sworn in.
