FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE At the request of Councilman Craig Fishel, Mayor Robert Stephens has agreed to postpone the first reading of Council Bill No. 2015-056. The bill, sponsored by Councilman Doug Burlison, would repeal the ordinance outlining regulations regarding pit bulls in the city limits of Springfield, if approved. Due to prescheduled out-of-town business meetings, Councilman Fishel will not be present at Monday’s City Council meeting. “We have a Council policy that was established several years ago and reaffirmed twice by this Council in recent months that allows for a Council member to request the courtesy of delaying consideration and/or vote on a bill that he or she has particular interest in. Therefore, in accordance with our standing policy, I am instructing the City Clerk to remove Council Bill 2015-056 from the agenda and we will consider this item when Councilman Fishel returns,” said Mayor Bob Stephens.
