Update, March 30 -- The deceased was identified as Jeffrey L. Morgan, 42, of Springfield. His next of kin has been notified.
March 29 -- The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to a fatality crash on Kansas Expressway near Bolivar Road at 1:12 a.m. today. A 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jacob Johnson, 23, of Ozark, was traveling northbound on Kansas Expressway when it struck a white male pedestrian near Bolivar Road. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The pedestrian has not been identified at this time. Information at the scene indicated the pedestrian had been struck by another vehicle prior to Johnson striking him, and that vehicle had left the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

This marks the fourth fatality crash in Springfield for 2018. Of these four, two have been pedestrians.
