FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Sept. 17, 2017
A group of local performers will practice today from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Brentwood Christian Church, 1900 E. Barataria, to prepare for a benefit concert that will help local children.
Nearly a dozen musicians and vocalists make up the band “Dr. Gray Matter and the Zone Blitzers, a group of local and regional musicians, music therapists, scientists and dreamers. Their mission: host a benefit concert to raise funds for students in Springfield's Zone 1 who would like to participate in musical programs at their schools, but lack the resources for doing so.
Brentwood Christian Church and Central Assembly of God have teamed up for the cause.
“We know, from a scientific viewpoint, that children’s brains develop differently if they learn to play an instrument,” said Brentwood Pastor Phil Snider. “Many of the members of the band are scientists and music therapists who work with patients and clients daily, using music to bring about transformation. Brain development, the sense of belonging to a group, the sheer joy of playing and learning something new, ALL support children having a better chance of rewriting their story and having a hand up in life.”
Due to limited seating capacity, purchasing tickets in advance is encouraged. To purchase tickets, visit the NeuroJam Concert Facebook page, or directly link to http://m.bpt.me/event/3084226.
