City to roll out new construction permitting software next week

BDS, Public Works and Planning permit counters to be closed the morning of Oct. 15 for rollout

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The City’s Building Development Services, Public Works and Planning permit counters will be closed the morning of Monday, Oct. 15, but for good reason: the 25-year-old Tidemark software the City currently uses for permitting, inspections and code enforcement is being replaced with new cloud-based Infor Community Development & Regulation (CDR) software.

“We will be back online to the public by 12:30 p.m. on Monday,” says BDS Director Harlan Hill. “We want to make sure the new system is up and running before we try to issue permits with it.”

The City has branded the new system eCity. As of Monday afternoon, developers will visit eCity.springfieldmo.gov to start a development project and apply and pay for permits. ECity will integrate with the City’s ProjectDox software used for electronic plan review and provide mobile-device integration for BDS inspectors and email notifications for developers and contractors to improve communication throughout a project.

Monday’s implementation, which is phase 1 of the eCity rollout, includes 37 construction and property development permits.
