Holiday compilation CD features Springfield musical entertainers

Members of the Reed Middle School Choir will be in the recording studio at noon today, Nov. 7 - a unique experience for most of the budding performers. They are recording one of about 12 tracks on "Holiday Crossroads," a collection of music from the Ozarks. Professional artists are also lending their time and talent, including, but not limited to:  Allie Hutsell, the Honkytonk Renovators, Abby Waterworth and Jessie McGoldrick Cowen. City of Springfield Director of Public Information & Civic Engagement Cora Scott came up with the idea as a way to create awareness about Springfield's rich musical scene and expand the downtown Festival of Lights. Proceeds benefit the continued creation of holiday lighting and holiday events and activities in downtown Springfield.
"What an extraordinary Christmas gift the Springfield music industry has given to the many holiday-loving visitors to Springfield’s downtown," Scott said. Our warm thanks to these great artists, producers and distributors for their generosity," Shawn Matthews, with Mozark Studios, is the executive producer.
The formal CD launch will occur during the Mayor's Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17 on Park Central Square. The music is available for purchase as a CD, download and even on cassette tape.

National Audio in Springfield is providing replication services at cost and is donating a limited supply of the music on cassette tapes. National Audio is the country's largest manufacturer of professional quality audio cassettes. "They are an amazing community asset," Scott said. Recognizing the on-going demand for audio cassettes for teaching materials, religious programs, high quality music, and books on tape, National Audio has continue to expand its duplication services to fill the needs of the industry. They have purchased the country's largest duplicators and continues to increase its customer base.
