The Missouri Job Center is hosting a graduation ceremony and hiring event for participants of the Green for Greene training program. The graduation is Friday, April 12, 1 pm, at The Fairbanks, 1126 N. Broadway, in Springfield.
This unique training gives graduates 13 certifications to help them land environmental jobs and is provided free of charge through a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. After graduation, participants have the opportunity to talk with local environmental companies about employment at a job fair from 2:15-3:30.
“Several employers will be participating in the hiring event at the Fairbanks following graduation,” said program coordinator Wendy Graves. The 11 graduates are as eager to secure a job as the companies are to hire them, she said.
The training which began in late February, includes certifications in OSHA 10, OSHA Hazwoper, trenching & excavation, confined space, lead abatement, lead renovation repair & paint, mold abatement, asbestos handler, forklift driver, silica, flagger, bloodborne pathogens and first aid/CPR.
