Missouri Job Center Hosts Discussion on Hiring Justice Involved Individuals
The Missouri Job Center is hosting a panel discussion to help guide businesses in hiring justice involved individuals and returning them to the workforce. The panel discussion is Wednesday, July 31, at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine in Springfield.
Employers are encouraged to attend this free event starting at 8 am with networking, followed by the panel discussion at 8:30. The panel features Warden Brian O’Connell from Ozarks Correctional Center, Ken Chapman from the Department of Corrections, Tiffanie Lomosi from Probation and Parole, Patsy O’Kiefe from Branson Cedars Resort, as well as three APPLIE program participants and Job Center staff.
“Justice involved individuals represent an untapped, skilled workforce who are ready to go to work and make a fresh start,” said Carmen May, Career Services Supervisor at the Missouri Job Center. May’s team runs the APPLIE program at Ozarks Correctional Center which has seen a 70% placement rate once participants complete the program and are released.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to work with these men and see the transformation,” May added. “Some have been in for 10 or 15 years and to give them a second chance at being contributing members of society is huge for these individuals,” she added.
Local businesses are encouraged to attend this event. Please RSVP by Friday, July 26, by emailing Jennifer at [email protected].
