Tip-a-Cop for Special Olympics at Texas Roadhouse
Officers with the Springfield Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D will trade in their handcuffs and badges for aprons and food as part of the statewide Tip-A-Cop event benefitting Special Olympics Missouri. This Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., law enforcement in Springfield will collect tips and help serve restaurant guests at Texas Roadhouse, 255 E. Monastery St.
Tip-A-Cop® is part of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) campaign. LETR, which includes an international series of relay runs and special events like Tip-A-Cop®, is presented by more than 97,000 law enforcement officers worldwide to help raise money and public awareness for Special Olympics. The guiding purpose of the event is to raise funds and awareness for more than 16,000 athletes who participate in the Missouri program. Special Olympics is law enforcement’s charity of choice, not only in Missouri but throughout the United States and in 42 countries worldwide. In 2018, Missouri’s Torch Run was ranked No. 6 in the world based on gross dollars raised.
