Missouri Job Center Hosts Second Drive Thru Job Fair in a Month
The Missouri Job Center in Springfield is hosting a second Drive Thru Job Fair on Thursday, July 23 from 9:30-11:30 am in the parking lot of the Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine, Springfield. Ten employers will set up under canopy tents in the parking lot to talk to job seekers about employment opportunities.
“We strongly encourage job seekers who would like to meet with any of the 10 employers, to first go online and fill out an employment application on the company’s website,” said Dennis Wiggins, Business Service Supervisor at the Missouri Job Center. “If you cannot go online and apply before hand, please bring copies of your resume to give to employers,” he said. “Some companies will even be doing onsite interviews at the job fair,” he added.
Participating employers include Jack Henry, Penmac, TTEC, Citizens Memorial Hospital, Burrell Behavioral Health, Poor Boy Tree Service, Nothum, MediaCom, O’Reilly and the Fremont Senior Living Center. Those wishing to meet with one or more of these employers are asked to go on the company’s website and fill out an application for employment prior to the job fair.
“After the response from our first Drive Thru event last month, we knew we had to respond quickly with a follow up event,” said Sally Payne, Interim Director of Workforce Development for the City of Springfield. “As extended unemployment benefits set to expire at the end of July, we realize that now more than ever, we need to connect employers and job seekers to help people get back to work,” she added.
