SPD to Host Neighborhood Watch Training Session in September
The Springfield Police Department will conduct a Neighborhood Watch training session on Sept. 22, 2020, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Springfield Police & Fire Training Center (2620 W. Battlefield). The training focuses on crime prevention, observation and reporting skills, Operation Identification and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). This program is helpful in giving citizens the tools need to fight crime in their neighborhoods and keep their homes secure. With 23 official Watch groups now formed, the program continues to grow within the City of Springfield.
This training is in response to community requests, however, seating is limited. Social distancing will be followed and masks will be required.
SPD encourages all citizens living inside City limits to attend the free training sessions. Those interested should register by contacting the SPD Crime Prevention Unit at 417-864-1321 or by submitting an online registration form.
