September 4, 2020 -- Health Department contract expands contact tracing capacity

news-update

Maximus Federal Services, Inc. has begun contact tracing services for the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, which will help further build capacity to combat COVID-19 in our community.

Contacts of Greene County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 will be called by Maximus staff to be informed of the exposure and to initiate quarantine.

Because there have been national reports of scammers attempting to take advantage of contact tracing processes, as a reminder, neither the Health Department nor Maximus Federal Services, Inc., will ask individuals for the following information at any time:

  • Your social security number (SSN)
  • Financial information, including credit card and checking account information
  • Personal information NOT related to your symptoms with the exception of your name, address, date of birth, phone number and email address

If any of the information mentioned above is asked, or you are otherwise concerned about the authenticity of the call, hang up and call our COVID-19 hotline at (417) 874-1211.

You can learn more about what to expect if you are a close contact, as well as what contact tracing is and why it is important, here.

On July 28, Springfield City Council approved the use of up to $2,748,859 of the Public Health Fund Balance—which is the government budgeting equivalent of the health department’s savings account—to pay for the contract to expand contact tracing capacity with staffing and technology capabilities. These costs will likely be covered by CARES Act funding distributed by the county. Maximus provides this expertise in other states across the country.
