Health Department announces online dashboard update

COVID-19 News

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department has updated its interactive online dashboard to give the public access to more valuable data in our community and region as we collectively fight COVID-19.

The updated dashboard can be located at: health.springfieldmo.gov/coronavirus.

The dashboard includes several new data points such as: positivity rates; 7-day rolling average; 2-week case rate per 10,000 people; and demographic information. The dashboard also allows users to filter certain data based on specific dates of interest.

To help guide users through the expanded functionality of the updated dashboard, the Health Department has created a video that provides a visual walkthrough of the new features. The video can be accessed here: https://bit.ly/3iRpwEW.

Most data points on the dashboard will continue to be updated daily, though a few comprehensive measures, such as testing information and demographics, are updated weekly. Those weekly measures are labeled.

What’s new on the dashboard?

The new additions include:

  • A more holistic view of hospitalization numbers including the total number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Springfield (including non-Greene County residents), the number of people currently in ICU and the number of Greene County residents hospitalized. These numbers had been updated every weekday on the department’s social media accounts but will now appear on the dashboard as well.
  • Additional testing information including:
    • The overall number of tests completed, the number of positive and negative tests and the total positivity rate.
    • The number of tests conducted in the last reported week and the positivity rate over the last reported week (note: numbers reflect a two-week delay due to lag in receiving negative test results).
    • A date slider for users to filter testing information based on specific dates of interest.
  • Community indicators such as cases received daily over the past four weeks, the 7-day rolling average, the 2-week case rate per 10,000 people and the change in reported cases in the last seven days.
  • A case overview which allows users to filter daily cases, the two-week case rate and hospital graphs based on specific dates of interest.
  • Demographic information including cases by age, average age by month, cases by race and the case rate per 100,000 people. Users may filter information by month and cases by age.
  • Additional regional information including:
    • The overall number of cases in the Springfield Metropolitan Service Area which includes Greene, Webster, Christian, Dallas and Polk counties.
    • The overall number of cases in the Southwest Region which encompasses 33 counties identified by the Missouri Hospital Association.
    • Rate comparisons per 100,000 people for similar cities and counties over the last two weeks.
