Springfield Mayor Ken McClure would like to congratulate Coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Springfield Mayor Ken McClure would like to congratulate Coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs for their Super Bowl win Sunday night.

“What a great sports year for the state of the Missouri!” McClure said in a Tweet Sunday night from the City of Springfield account. “A Super Bowl win for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Stanley Cup win by the St. Louis Blues and the World Team Championship by the Springfield Lasers. Missouri is the place to be.”

McClure said these sorts of championships bring a community together to celebrate and creates a sense of place that citizens can feel proud of. Last fall, a group of citizens and organizations worked together to bring the Stanley Cup to Springfield for a celebration of the historic win. More than 6,000 people turned out.
