The Springfield Police Department will be honoring Lt. Brian Phillips during a retirement ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan.22 at the Springfield Regional Police and Fire Training Center, 2620 W. Battlefield.
Phillips joined the Springfield Police Department on Jan. 22, 1990, as a patrol officer. He was promoted to the rank of corporal in January 1996. Five years later in January 2001, Phillips was promoted to the rank of sergeant where he served in DWI enforcement, patrol and traffic services. In 2012, Phillips was promoted to lieutenant and became the commander of the Traffic Section.
Phillips graduated from Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command in 2011 and the Greater Ozarks Leadership Development (GOLD) in 2010. He also competed in the 2005 World Police and Fire Games in Quebec, Canada, and was a gold medalist in the hammer throw.
