About the Project:
As part of the Springfield Art Museum Master Plan, construction of stormwater improvements to Fassnight Creek are planned to begin this summer along Brookside Drive, between National Avenue and Kings Avenue. Improvements will involve the restoration of the creek to a naturalized channel with the goal of reducing the risk of flooding to the Art Museum and surrounding residential properties and for the benefit of flood mitigation, water quality and the creation of urban wildlife habitat.
In conjunction with the stormwater project, transportation and recreation opportunities to Phelps Grove Park and the Art Museum will be improved through the future construction of a multi-use trail connection, planned for construction in fall 2021.
