FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A yearly tradition, the Springfield-Greene County 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Department will be alerting law enforcement over the radio on Christmas Eve to be on the lookout (BOLO) for an unidentified flying object and a male with a white beard and rosy cheeks landing on top of houses who is making entry through chimneys and rumored to be leaving gifts under the Christmas tree.
“We want to have a little fun this Christmas season and make sure our public safety personnel know to be on the lookout,” says Director Kris Inman. “We know many of our first responders have to work during the holidays, so we want to put a smile on their faces during their shifts. This has become a bit of a tradition for our department, and our folks really enjoy it."
Inman said 9-1-1 staff will also contact NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) through noradsanta.org.
“Since NORAD has been tracking Santa since 1955, we figured they will know where he is and if he is heading our way,” Inman said.
Inman reminds citizens to contact 9-1-1 when they need police, fire and/or emergency medical ambulance response.
