Although we are encouraged that COVID-19 case numbers have been improving and vaccination efforts continue, the Springfield-Greene County Health Department encourages everyone to play safely on Super Bowl Sunday to limit the risk of exposure.
Because many of the traditional activities associated with Super Bowl Sunday may pose an increased risk for disease spread, in-person gatherings with people outside of your household are highly discouraged.
These lower-risk activities will allow you, your family and friends to celebrate safely while rooting for your favorite team:
Staying home and celebrating with people who live with you is the best way to reduce the risk of disease spread. However, if you choose to celebrate with others outside of your household, it’s paramount that you wear a mask, maintain a six-foot distance, wash your hands often and stay home if you feel sick.

Please note that until more people in our community get vaccinated and more information is gathered on the level of protection that the COVID-19 vaccines provide against spreading the virus, we still ask that everyone use every available tool to help stop the pandemic. This includes the 3 Ws: wear a mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands. At this time, even individuals who are vaccinated will need to quarantine if they come into contact with an individual who tests positive for COVID-19.
Individuals wanting more information on how they can celebrate safely are welcome to contact the Health Department to ask questions via our coronavirus hotline at (417) 874-1211 or by email at [email protected]
Inquiries from the public can be made by contacting the Health Department’s call center at (417) 874-1211 or by email at [email protected].
Please note that the contact number for media inquiries has changed. Media may now contact the Health Department PIO Team by call or text at 417-380-2556 or email at [email protected].
