73rd Springfield Police Academy Set to Graduate Tonight
Graduation ceremonies for the officers of the 73rd Springfield Police Academy will be held Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Park Crest Baptist Church, 816 W. Republic Rd. at 7:00 p.m.
These 10 graduates have undergone 1,060 hours (27 weeks) of intense law enforcement training. Upon graduation, they will be assigned to an experienced field-training officer (FTO) for approximately 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training. Once they complete the FTO program, these new officers will be assigned to the Uniform Operations Bureau.
The 73rd academy consists of 10 males.
Their education and experience include:
· 6 Bachelor’s Degrees
· 1 Associates Degree
· 4 Prior or Current Military
The ceremony will be closed to the public due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic but available for live stream on the SPD Facebook page (@SGFPolice) and website (SpringfieldMo.gov/spd).
