Apply Now for SPD's Fall 2021 Citizens Police Academy
Applications are now open for the fall 2021 Citizens Police Academy. During the program, participants complete 30 hours of instruction over 10 weeks and will meet every Thursday. The program allows for a behind-the-scenes look at SPD practices and policies. The curriculum covers a variety of topics such as police policies, organizational structure, investigative processes and policing tactics.
The goal of the academy is to give citizens a better understanding of how the police department functions and what challenges officers face when working to serve the community.
The next academy will begin on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, and graduation will be Oct. 7, 2021.
THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS JUNE 5, 2021.
Applicants MUST be Springfield residents who are at least 18 years of age with no felonies. Applicants must pass a basic background investigation to be eligible.
