COVID-19 News

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is encouraged to report zero new COVID-19 fatalities among Greene County residents for the May 12-18, 2021 reporting period.

This is the fourth time in 43 weeks that the Health Department has reported no new COVID-19 deaths in Greene County – and the first time there have been zero fatalities during two back-to-back reporting periods.

A total of 430 Greene County residents have died from COVID-19 since March 23, 2020.

Vaccine opportunities

The Health Department attributes decreases in reported fatalities and overall COVID-19 case numbers to more individuals getting vaccinated.

On May 12, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services authorized the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for adolescents ages 12-15.

Individuals 12 and older can register and schedule an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine through the Health Department by visiting or by calling our COVID-19 call center at (417) 874-1211. Although pre-registration is encouraged, walk-ins are welcome at any one of the clinics hosted by the Health Department.
