UPDATED: Springfield Fire Department responds to house fire on South Lone Pine Avenue

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Around 6:30 a.m. the Springfield Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire in the 2000 block of South Lone Pine Avenue with reports of multiple residents still inside the home. Firefighters arrived to find the home with heavy smoke and fire conditions. They located a 40-year-old female and three children – a 13-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl – during search-and-rescue operations. All four were provided care by firefighters and EMS on scene and were taken to Cox and Mercy hospitals. The adult and 6-year-old succumbed to their injuries. The other two children remain in critical condition. 

The fire remains under investigation by the Bureau of Fire Prevention. Additional information will be released as soon as it is available.
