On Wednesday, July 21, Springfield hospitals reported an all-time high of 265 hospitalizations from COVID-19. As of Thursday, 263 individuals were being treated for COVID-19 and 103 were in critical care.
On Thursday, 248 new cases of COVID-19 were reported to the Health Department. In the last seven days, 1,575 Greene County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing our seven-day rolling average for new cases to 224. According to most recent data, 92% of individuals who’ve contracted COVID-19 so far in July have not been fully vaccinated.
While there are some fully vaccinated individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19, their illness is typically mild and rarely requires hospitalization. Unvaccinated individuals are urged to wear a mask and take other precautions while in public. It is strongly recommended that individuals who have previously had a COVID-19 infection get vaccinated to help build protection against the Delta variant.
